About our school

Stewart House School is a co-educational, residential school located on the beachfront at Curl Curl, on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Our goal is to develop children's social and emotional skills and promote a healthy and active lifestyle.

While at Stewart House children participate in educational programs in the classroom, at the beach and on excursions around Sydney.  We provide activities to promote social and emotional competence and develop independence, self-care skills and resilience.

The class program includes lessons that are designed to enhance social skills, develop emotional resilience and includes art and craft activities and sports.

During the excursion program, we may be visiting all or some of the following, Taronga Zoo, Powerhouse Museum, Harbour Bridge, Manly Ferry, Northern Beaches parks, Sydney Olympic Aquatic Centre and other indoor pools, museums and the city sights.

All students take part in lessons focused on First Nations histories and cultures. Our Aboriginal Education Officers share their knowledge and offer hands-on experiences with traditional tools, musical instruments, weapons. Our food and cooking lessons make use of our facilities, such as the bush tucker garden to help students develop practical skills like damper making.

Students are also provided with health services including optometric, audiometric, dental and medical screening and initial treatment and referral as required.
