Resources & Professional Development
Welcome to our Resources and Professional Development page, here you can find material and services we offer to best help teachers.
Resources
Our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Teaching Resources are collaboratively developed by the team at Stewart House School and are regularly reviewed and refined. These classroom resources are packed with activities, lesson plans and discussion prompts, available for use by teachers within their own classrooms. By integrating SEL into teaching and learning sequences, educators can foster a more connected and supportive environment and building student resilience and life skills.
Professional learning opportunities
The staff at Stewart House School work in a specialised context and have undertaken extensive professional development, as well as on-the-ground daily experience, in best practice for supporting students with complex needs. We offer professional learning for staff in NSW Public Schools, which can be undertaken onsite at Stewart House or at your school. Our specialist professional learning suite includes:
Trauma Informed Practice
Our trauma informed practice training equips teachers with the knowledge and skills to better understand how trauma can impact student behaviour, learning, and wellbeing. We provide practical, classroom-ready strategies that help educators create safe, supportive environments where all students can thrive.
Positive Psychology
The Stewart House School program is built upon a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum and we can share with your staff advice and resources to develop a SEL or positive psychology program.
Incident Debrief and Intervention Support
Our incident debrief and intervention support is designed to help schools respond effectively after challenging or critical incidents involving dysregulated student behaviour. We provide structured debrief sessions for staff, creating a safe space to reflect, share perspectives and process what happened. Alongside this, our intervention support offers practical strategies to equip staff for the management of high-level dysregulated student behaviour in the future. By partnering with us, schools can ensure their staff feel supported, valued and ready to move forward positively.
