Steve Smith

On behalf of the staff it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Stewart House School website.

Stewart House School is a NSW Department of Education ‘School for Specific Purposes’ which provides a co-educational wellbeing program for government school children in years 2 to 8.  Each year approximately 1800 children from all areas of NSW and the ACT attend Stewart House School from Monday to Friday as part of their twelve day Stewart House experience.

The program focuses on improving physical, social and emotional wellbeing through the setting and achievement of both home-school and student-identified goals.  This provides an opportunity for children to understand the biological change which occurs within the brain as a result of a multitude of factors such as stress, and develop self-regulation skills to cope with challenging situations.  Lessons include building and strengthening resilience and connection with culture, peers and staff to develop a sense of connectedness to one’s family and community.
