Celebrating 50 Years in Education: Phil Todd Returns to Where It All Began

This year one of our teachers; Phil Todd marked an extraordinary milestone in his career—50 years as a teacher.

To celebrate he made a trip to the place where it all began: Gerogery Public School.

For Phil, stepping back into the one-teacher school brought a flood of memories. It was here, five decades ago, that he began his journey in education, teaching 34 students in a single classroom. Fast forward to today, and the school has has just 14 students and two teachers.

Reflecting on his career, Phil remarked on the changes in education and how schools like Gerogery have evolved over the years. "It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come, but what hasn’t changed is the importance of these tight-knit communities," he shared.

Phil’s dedication to teaching and the generations of students he has inspired over the years is a testament to his passion for education. His visit to Gerogery Public School was not just a celebration of his own achievements but a recognition of the enduring legacy of schools like this that form the foundation of learning in rural communities.

Congratulations, Phil, on 50 remarkable years in education!
